Wii is an interactive, unbelievably realistic game in which the player wears a controller and goes through the motions of playing a sport while looking at our big screen TV. Wii bowling will have you thinking that you are actually in a real bowling alley! We would like to get an ongoing Wii bowling league established at the Linkside Café. Anyone interested should be at the Linkside Café next Wednesday, January 13 th at 3 p.m. Don't forget - January is "Double Your Discount" month for draft beers, pitchers of beer, well drinks and wine! Come on over to the Clubhouse, enjoy cold drinks, try our new appetizers and have some fun! If you aren't sure whether or not you wish to play, just come in and watch and be entertained!

The BSGAC is excited to announce that we will be offering another 4 week session of "Zumba Gold" Classes on Wednesday evenings beginning February 17th. You may sign up for individual classes or for the entire series.
Zumba Gold is a series of fitness programs specifically designed to take exciting Latin and International dance rhythms and bring the original Zumba program to the active older adult, beginner participant, etc. This fun Latin inspired dance program includes Merengue, Salsa, Cha Cha, Cumbia, Belly Dance, Flamenco and Rock and Roll. These programs are guaranteed to provide the participant with a safe and effective total body workout in a party-like atmosphere. It is fun, different, easy and effective. It's great for the mind, body and soul of our expanding active older adult population.

To stay sharp, take steps to keep your brain adaptable. Exercise, mental stimulation and other measures can help your brain adapt to new demands, a capability known as neuroplasticity. These 2-hour classes are designed to help you to maintain and improve your mental capabilities! The instructor is Sue Maxwell, Director of Gerontology at Lee Memorial Hospital. Programs of this nature are highlighted and discussed in this month's issue of "Consumer Reports". We are fortunate and pleased to be able to offer this series to our members. On Saturday, March 6th we will be holding our BSGAC Flea Market in conjunction with the Burnt Store Marina Community Garage Sale scheduled for the same date. Members are invited to reserve their space in the BSGAC Parking lot by stopping by the Administration Office and registering. There is no charge to reserve your space! Even if you are not planning to reserve a table, please plan to stop by and browse our tables. If you are planning to reserve a table please note the following:
1. Members of the Burnt Store Golf and Activity Club only may register for a space.
There is no charge.
2. Those participating will be required to provide their own tables.
3. Those setting up tables may begin to set up at 7am. Upon arrival, you must check
in and show your ID card to a staff member who will direct you where to set up.
4. Once your vehicle is unloaded you will be asked to move your vehicle to an
off-site location.

BSGAC FLEA MARKET TABLE
Do you have any items which you would like to clear out of your garage but you don't feel like setting up a table? Feel free to drop those items off at the side door of the cart barn beginning Wednesday, March 3rd. The cart barn will be accepting items from Wednesday until Noon on Friday, March 5th. These items will be displayed and offered for sale at the BSGAC Flea Market Table on Saturday. All proceeds will go to the Club!

We are pleased to announce that the BSGAC will hold our 1 st Health Fair on Monday, April 12 th. If successful, this will be the 1 st of a series of programs designed to educate our members about health issues which affect our population group. The program will begin at 10 a.m. with an educational presentation and question and answer session covering the topics "Heart Disease, Stroke and Diabetes". The presentation will be provided by heath educators courtesy of Edison College and Charlotte Regional Medical Center. In order for us to anticipate how many people to expect, there will be a nominal charge of $5 to attend the lecture. Please sign up at the Administration Office.
At 11 a.m. the Edison College nursing program will conduct a free blood pressure screening on the lanai. This screening is open to members and non -members alike.
Knowledge is power! We thank "ConfiCare Home Health Solutions" for volunteering their time and knowledge to help us put together this program. Sign up now to assure that these types of programs continue. If you have a particular interest in a health topic to be covered at future lectures please place that suggestion in the suggestion box in the lobby. We have been informed that there is a large pool of educators who are willing and able to provide us with information about most health topics.

Attention All Golfers! Sign up now on the bulletin board to participate in our next exciting "Battle of the Sexes" Golf Tournament on Saturday, March 13 th. Individual sign-up only - no team sign up allowed. Pairings will be made by the Pro Shop. Every team will have 2 guys and 2 gals and the guys will compete against the gals! Full handicap will apply. There will be 3 different formats for this tournament:
1. The first 6 holes will be a 2 person scramble (guys against gals)
2. The next 6 holes will be alternate shot. Both golfers will tee off and go to the ball of their choice. The other person hits the alternate shot. The golfers will continue to alternate until the ball is in the hole.
3. The final 6 holes will be "Best Ball". Both players will play their own ball into the hole. The best score is the one which will count.
Sign up by no later than 5pm on Thursday, March 11th. We must have an even number of guys and gals for this event.
Hot dogs, hamburgers and cold drinks will be available following play freshly grilled by the Linkside Staff.

APPROXIMATE COST: $45 per Person
How many people realize that there is a full-fledged rodeo right up the road in Arcadia? This is a hugely popular event which is held every year. If there is enough interest we plan to rent a bus and travel to the Rodeo on Sunday, March 14th. We do not want to commit and put down a deposit on the bus or purchase seats until we are sure that we have enough people to pay for the bus. If you are confident that you would like to go on this excursion please sign up at the Administration Office by no later than Friday, January 29th. We must have a minimum of 35 commitments to plan this trip. At this time we will not collect any monies until we are sure that the trip is going to go and seating is still available at the Arena. Seating is very limited so we must act quickly. All seats are covered and the show will go on rain or shine. The bus will depart the clubhouse at 10:30am. (Spectators may walk for free or rent a cart for $5)
Play the golf course utilizing nothing but golf ball tosses and rolls. No clubs allowed. The non-golfer will have just as much of a chance of winning ass the golfer. Four-person teams will be formed and we will attempt to have one golfer on every team. Everyone will toss a ball from the tee, and the entire team will move to the best ball thrown and throw again. This will continue until the ball is in the hole. The scramble will consist of nine holes and prizes will be awarded in "Burnt Store Bucks."
A beverage cart will be circulating during the game to keep everyone well hydrated!
Sign up on the bulletin board at the clubhouse no later than noon Thursday, March 18 th. Sign up as an individual or as a team.
$5 entry fee payable when you arrive to play
$5 cart rental per person, or walk for free
Following the game a "Taco Buffet" will be offered at the Linkside Café. Our old "Taco Tuesdays" were very popular and we are sure many people will be glad to see this buffet offered again! You do not need to participate in the buffet in order to play the game. Likewise you do not need to participate in the game to partake of the buffet. However, you must sign up and pay in advance for the buffet at the Administration Office. Check out the announcement below for details of the "Taco Buffet".
We hope to have a great turnout on March 20th for what promises to be a fun afternoon. Come on golfers - gather up your non-golfer friends and form teams! Sign up now!

The March 7 Frank Torino Variety Show has quickly sold out and we have added a second appearance! Frank appeared at our Club last season and sold out 3 consecutive shows! Everyone who attended absolutely enjoyed the evening. His impersonations were hilarious and talented and brought back fond memories of artists and songs from the past. Frank promises that Elvis himself will again make an appearance, as well as many other performers who could not make the show last year. This added appearance is sure to sell out also, so do not delay making reservations. Wii is an interactive, unbelievably realistic game in which the player wears a controller and goes through the motions of playing a sport while looking at our big screen TV. Wii bowling will have you thinking that you are actually in a real bowling alley! We would like to get an ongoing Wii bowling league established at the Linkside Café. Anyone interested should be at the Linkside Café next Wednesday, January 13 th at 3 p.m. Don't forget - January is "Double Your Discount" month for draft beers, pitchers of beer, well drinks and wine! Come on over to the Clubhouse, enjoy cold drinks, try our new appetizers and have some fun! If you aren't sure whether or not you wish to play, just come in and watch and be entertained!

The BSGAC is excited to announce that we will be offering another 4 week session of "Zumba Gold" Classes on Wednesday evenings beginning February 17th. You may sign up for individual classes or for the entire series.
Zumba Gold is a series of fitness programs specifically designed to take exciting Latin and International dance rhythms and bring the original Zumba program to the active older adult, beginner participant, etc. This fun Latin inspired dance program includes Merengue, Salsa, Cha Cha, Cumbia, Belly Dance, Flamenco and Rock and Roll. These programs are guaranteed to provide the participant with a safe and effective total body workout in a party-like atmosphere. It is fun, different, easy and effective. It's great for the mind, body and soul of our expanding active older adult population.

If you have never participated in a poker run, you have missed out on a really great time! You won't want to miss out this year. For this event all participants will check in at the Activity Center at 3 PM. Each person will be given a Poker Scorecard and assigned a route of 5 residences to visit and return to the Club by 5 PM. At each residence, you will draw one card towards a 5-card poker hand, and proceed to the next residences on your route to complete your poker hand. Each stop will enable everyone to socialize with old friends, make some new friends and share in what is truly a fun event. This is a social event and not a race! Some of the homes participating will be offering refreshments. Although it is called a "Golf Cart Poker Run", all participants may use whatever means they wish to leave the club and return with a complete poker hand by 5pm. Some residents have 4-person carts with whom you may want to team up. Those without golf carts may wish to bicycle, travel by car, walk, etc. If you wish to team up with another pair for this event please register as a foursome so that you will have the same route of 5 homes to visit. The Scorecards must be returned by 5PM to the Activity Center where the scoring will take place. An Italian Buffet Dinner will be served at 6pm.

Meet at 6:30 PM at the Burnt Store Marina launch ramp at 6:30 PM. We will load up and paddle out towards the sunset, them home to a full moon. This is an experience everyone should have. Just about the time that the full moon is in effect, the water gets nice and calm. Florida Paddle Sports will provide lights and safety gear. Due to the tour taking place at night, previous kayak experience is required. Plan 2 - 3 hours. Most of the time will be spent floating and enjoying the view. Register now at the Administration Office.
