The BSGAC is excited to announce that we will be offering another 4 week session of "Zumba Gold" Classes on Wednesday evenings beginning February 17th. You may sign up for individual classes or for the entire series.
Zumba Gold is a series of fitness programs specifically designed to take exciting Latin and International dance rhythms and bring the original Zumba program to the active older adult, beginner participant, etc. This fun Latin inspired dance program includes Merengue, Salsa, Cha Cha, Cumbia, Belly Dance, Flamenco and Rock and Roll. These programs are guaranteed to provide the participant with a safe and effective total body workout in a party-like atmosphere. It is fun, different, easy and effective. It's great for the mind, body and soul of our expanding active older adult population.

We are pleased to announce that the BSGAC will hold our 1^st Health Fair on Monday, April 12^th. If successful, this will be the 1^st of a series of programs designed to educate our members about health issues which affect our population group. The program will begin at 10 a.m. with an educational presentation and question and answer session covering the topics "Heart Disease, Stroke and Diabetes". The presentation will be provided by heath educators courtesy of Edison College and Charlotte Regional Medical Center. There is no charge for this lecture, however we need to know how many to expect for the lecture as seating is limited. In order for us to anticipate how many people to expect, we are requesting that you pre-register at the Administration Office or call the Administration Office at 941-639-4151.
At 11 a.m. the Edison College nursing program will conduct a free blood pressure screening on the lanai. This screening is open to members and non -members alike.
Knowledge is power! We thank "ConfiCare Home Health Solutions" for volunteering their time and knowledge to help us put together this program. Sign up now to assure that these types of programs continue. If you have a particular interest in a health topic to be covered at future lectures please place that suggestion in the suggestion box in the lobby. We have been informed that there is a large pool of educators who are willing and able to provide us with information about most health topics.

We've dreamed up lots of different games to keep things interesting but this is a brand new concept! We will combine golfing with fishing to determine the winners of this fun event! The golfing will begin at 2 PM with a 2-person format! The golf event will be full handicap play. Both scores will count and full handicaps will be deducted at the conclusion of the nine holes. After golf, each 2 - person team will be assigned a spot to fish along a golf course pond (most likely Heron 2 and 3). The spot where you fish will be determined by random draw. You may want to bring a folding chair for the fishing portion of the event. Knowledge of fishing is not required! There will be volunteers from the Burnt Store Anglers Club available to help you. Every team will be utilizing the same selection of artificial lures which will be provided. A limited number of fishing rods will be available for loan if needed. At 4 PM, every twosome will have one hour to fish from their designated spot. Any fish caught will be measured and photographed! Point values will be assigned for size, species and number of fish caught. Your golf score and your fishing score will be combined to determine the winners of the event! Winners will be determined during Cocktail Hour which will run from 5 - 6 PM. Dinner for the evening will appropriately be a Fish Fry which will begin at 6 PM! (No, the fish for the fish fry will not come from the golf course ponds). This event should be loads of fun and lots of laughs. Sign up now to play on the bulletin board. Please sign up to play by no later than noon on Thursday, April 15^th. You may sign up as a twosome or individually, in which case we will pair you up. The entry fee for the tournament will be $5 which will be collected when you check in to play on the day of the event. When signing up to play, please indicate whether of not you will need a fishing rod.

(If you have your own kayak the cost is $25 for single, $40 per couple)

In this class you will learn the safety aspects of kayaking, different parts of the kayak, rigging, proper strokes and fishing procedures from the kayak. The first part of the class will be indoors followed by hands-on instruction on the water. We will also introduce you to the "Propel" kayak that you can pedal like a bike. Perfect for trolling! Bring your own fishing gear, or rent ours for an additional $25. This class will consist of approximately one hour class instruction on the patio at the Clubhouse and 2.5 hours on the water. Register now at the Administration Office.

Our very popular Yoga series presented at the Linkside Café by "The Yoga Sanctuary" in Punta Gorda continues. In order for us to commit with The Yoga Sanctuary and contract for this class we must know in advance that we have enough people. If interested, please sign up by no later than Wednesday, April 7th. Those signing up for the entire series of 4 classes will be given preference. Register now for the series at the Administration Office.
If the classes are not filled by those taking the entire series by noon on March 6th, you may sign up individual classes at that time.
