HEALTHY BRAIN SERIES II
STAY SHARP AS YOU GROW OLDER
OCTOBER 13, 20, 27 and NOVEMBER 3
TIME: 6:30 - 8:30 PM
COST: $20 for all 4 classes
Back by popular demand! Those members who attended this series last year raved about how it helped them to improve their cognitive abilities! These series is returning and many new activities will be offered in the program. If you have taken Series I, you will find that this series is just as useful as much of the presentation is new. Likewise, there is no need to have taken Series I to take this series. To stay sharp as you grow older, take steps to keep your brain adaptable. Exercise, mental stimulation, and other measures can help your brain adapt to new demands; a capability known as neuroplasticity. Sue Maxwell, Director of Gerontology at Lee Memorial Hospital, will conduct these two hour sessions. Register now at the Administration Office.

MONDAY, NOVEMBER 8th
6 - 9:30 PM
INSTRUCTOR: LINDA FARR
$25 PER STUDENT
BSGAC MEMBERS ONLY
The Staff of the BSGAC has been scheduled to be certified / re-certified in current CPR techniques and the use of the automated external defibrillator which is located in the Linkside Café hanging on the wall next to the bar. There are 3 openings remaining in the class on Monday, November 8th which is now open to the membership. If you would like to take this class, please register as soon as possible. If we have additional people wishing to sign up after this class has been filled we will begin a waiting list and attempt to schedule another class.
This training will include adult, infant and child CPR as well as techniques for relieving an airway obstruction (choking). Also included in this class will be instruction in the use of the automated external defibrillator. We feel that it is extremely important that we all are up to date with this important training. Knowledge of the life saving techniques of rapid CPR and defibrillation are critical in the unfortunate event of an emergency.
This class is a one-evening class which takes about 3½ hours. Upon completion of this class students will be certified by the American Heart Association for a 2-year period.
Cost of the class is $25 per student. We have on hand 10 training manuals which will be given to each student several days prior to the beginning of each class so that the book may be reviewed prior to class. These books must be returned at the conclusion of class to be passed on to the next group of students. You may purchase your own manual at a cost of $10 if you would like to do that.
If interested, please sign up at the Administration Office so that we can get an idea of how many additional classes will be needed. You will be notified as openings exist and may register and pay at that time.

WE THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE!
To honor our Veterans, we are proud to announce a brand new golf format to be played at the BSGAC on Veterans Day. The entire field will be divided into 5 groups - each group representing a branch of the US Military. The format will be a team scramble. At the conclusion of play, those teams representing each branch of the military will have their scores combined to come up with a total group score for that branch of the military. The group with the best combined score will win the tournament and the prize money will be divided among those golfers representing the winning branch of the Armed Forces.
Team sign up will not be allowed. All veterans who sign up to play should indicate in which branch of the military they have served. When the teams are made up, we hope to be able to have all veterans playing for their branch of the Armed Forces. All non-veteran players will be distributed among the 5 groups in a manner which will keep the teams and the groups balanced and fair.
Each golf cart will be proudly displaying two flags! The American Flag will be displayed by every cart. Every cart will also display the flag which represents the military branch for which they are competing. Everyone is encouraged to wear their red, white and blue proudly!
During play, all golfers will be able to purchase two mulligans at a cost of $1 each. Those two mulligans may be used anytime, anywhere. All mulligan money will be donated to the Veterans Association.
Sign up to play on the bulletin board. Veterans, please write your branch of service next to your name when signing up. Let's all show our support for our Veterans and enjoy a great afternoon of golf!
