Looking back at our events the past couple years, we’ve
fallen into the same format every month whenever we have musical
entertainment; cocktails at 5 pm, dinner at 6 pm, music and dancing at 7 pm.
Some of our members do not come for the cocktail hour at 5 pm,
preferring to arrive at 6 pm just before dinner.
Other members have stated that dinner at 6 pm is too early for them.
Many do not dance at all, and people begin to go home between 8:30
and 9 pm even though we have booked and paid for the music until 10 pm.
Let’s try something different!
Whenever you go out to a restaurant that is having entertainment, the
patrons eat, drink, chat and socialize, while at the same time enjoying the
music. A few people dance, and
lots just enjoy the food, the company that they are with and the music at
the same time.
I think this format will work well at our Club.
There is a lot of local talent that may not really be dance music,
but is very enjoyable to listen to.
We can still have our occasional dances, but why not have evenings of
different types of musical entertainment?
We could possibly have some bluegrass, blues, folk, light jazz, easy
listening or whatever else suits our fancy.
We are excited to announce that vocalist Donna Marie Romeo will be
appearing for the first time at the BSGAC on Saturday, June 11th.
If you’d like to sample her music, go to youtube.com and type in her
full name. You will agree that
she has a beautiful voice, and she performs the music of artists such as
Celine Dionne, Whitney Houston, Norah Jones and many others.
We hope to have a great turnout on June 11th.
Dance if you like, or just relax and enjoy some good food, good
drinks, good company and good music.
Tickets are now on sale at the Administration Office and must be
purchased by noon on Monday, June 6th.
When purchasing your ticket, please be prepared to choose your entrée
from below:

THE JUNK HUNT!
A NEW GAME AT THE BSGAC
FRIDAY MAY 13, 2011
COCKTAILS 5 PM, DINNER 6 PM, JUNK HUNT GAME 7 PM
BSGAC MEMBERS ONLY
Maximum 90 people
Entry fee of $3 per person to be paid on game night
NOTE:
As a point of clarification – each person on your team may bring
one plastic
Publix grocery bag full of junk.
However, if you can come up with the items asked for from your
pockets, wallets, purses or anywhere on your person
those items will also be counted!
Cliff has come up with an idea for a new game to be
played after dinner on Friday, May 13th! The name of this
game is “The Junk Hunt”. All participants must bring a plastic Publix
grocery bag full of “junk items”. When the game begins, Cliff will
have a large list of items which he will announce one item at a time.
Will you have that item? What weird, perverse items will his twisted
mind be looking for? Bring your junk to dinner and find out! The
Linkside Café will be set in tables of 6, so everyone will be divided into
teams of 6 persons. For example, if Cliff asks for a nail, and your
table shows him 2 nails, your team will receive 2 points. Hint – don’t
bother bringing nails. The teams ending up with the most points at the
end of the game will win Burnt Store Bucks certificates. You may sign
up as a team of 6, or if you sign up individually we will assign you to a
team. If we wind up with a table of less than 6 persons, a couple of
people may be asked to bring 2 bags. Karen Ritterpusch will be the
judge who will count the items and decide whether the items produced match
the item being asked for. This game should be a hoot – sign up now at
the Administration Office. When signing up be prepared to choose
your dinner entrée from below. Please sign up by noon on Monday, May 9th.

Billy Bridger began a
musical career at a young age. Real jobs stopped getting in the way
before the turn of the century. During his last real job as a
schoolteacher he took the first opportunity for a leave to try music as a
full-time career. While playing on a cruise ship with a frequented
stop in New Orleans he noticed that many party revelers were dressed in
costume and began adding that element to his show. Since that time he
has spent summers entertaining in his native city of Kingston, Ontario
Canada and winters in the Marco Island area of Florida as we as some
fun-loving places in between. His show spoofs many great entertainers
and is a great recipe for a good time for all. His shows are a hit
wherever he goes – its light-hearted and goofy fun! For more

BSGAC RINGS OUT 2010 AND CELEBRATES
THE NEW YEAR WITH TWO DIFFERENT EVENTS!
It is great to join together with friends and neighbors
to ring out the old year and ring in the New Year at the BSGAC. But we
have found that it is awfully difficult to begin celebrating with a party
which starts at 6 PM with cocktails, followed by dinner and music and
lasting until 1 am. There aren’t many of us that can party for 7 hours
anymore! This year we are totally changing our end of year
celebration, and are planning 2 separate events. The first event will
be an end of the year dinner on the evening prior to New Year’s Eve and the
second event will be a New Year’s Eve Party on December 31st!
On Thursday, December 30th, our first end of
the year event will be a “Farewell to 2010” Dinner at the Linkside Café.
This will be a leisurely dinner only, with no music or entertainment.
This will give everyone a chance to come together for a casual evening of
delicious food, drink and socializing. Let’s all come and dine together as a
community and celebrate and give thanks for another great year at the BSGAC.
We will begin with a cocktail hour from 6 until 7 PM.
Happy hour prices will be in effect until close. Dinner will be served
at 7 PM and the bar will remain open until 9:30 PM. Reservations for
this dinner are now being taken at the Administration Office. Please
make your reservation by noon on Tuesday, December 28th.
When making your reservation please be prepared to choose your entrée from

NEW SUMMER HOURS TO BEGIN AT THE
LINKSIDE CAFÉ ON MONDAY, MAY 10TH
Your
BSGAC staff and Board of Directors have been working together to develop a
plan to best optimize our resources, manpower and policies in the most cost
efficient manner this summer. As everyone knows, our population base
dramatically decreases every summer. That decrease in our population
along with today’s economic realities present a challenge for all businesses
in Florida as well as our own BSGAC. After conducting a statistical
analysis of our business model over the past summers, the Board of Directors
along with your management team have decided to institute the
following policies in regards to our Food and Beverage Service.
1. The Mother’s Day Breakfast Buffet on May 9th will be the last day that breakfast will be available at the Linkside Café until next season. The Golf Shop will offer coffee, muffins and snack items daily beginning at 7 a.m.
2. The Linkside Café will be open from 10:30 a.m. until 5 p.m. daily (closing one hour earlier than during season).
3. Lunch will be available from 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. Monday thru Saturday from our condensed summer lunch menu. From 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. hot dogs and snack items will be available.
4. Lunch will not be available on Sundays. The restaurant will, however, remain open until 5 p.m. Hot dogs and snack items will be available on Sundays from 11:30 until 5 p.m.
5. The Linkside café will remain open to the public every Tuesday evening. Our summer menu and lite fare will be available from 5 – 7 p.m. and the bar will remain open until 8 p.m. Please consider dining with us on Tuesday evenings so that we may continue this policy throughout the summer.
We
apologize for any inconvenience that these changes may cause. Our goal
is to provide the best service possible while at the same time maintaining
cost effectiveness to assure the continued success of our Burnt Store Golf
and Activity Club. Thank you for your understanding and support.

POKER
RUN PLANNED FOR
SATURDAY, MARCH 27
VOLUNTEER DEALERS NEEDED
BSGAC MEMBERS ONLY
The
Activity Committee is planning to offer a Poker Run to the Community again
on Saturday, March 27th. Our last Poker Run was a resounding success
and was thoroughly enjoyed by all who participated. We are looking for a
minimum of 10 Marina Residents to volunteer to be dealers from 3-5 pm.
(We say Marina residents because we would like to stay away from a situation
where we have lots of golf carts darting back and forth across Vincent and
through the Lakes). Dealers are asked to greet participants at their
homes, shuffle a deck of cards, and allow each player to draw a card from
the deck. The dealer then notes the card which was drawn on the
player’s scorecard and places the card back in the deck. Previous
dealers have offered beer, wine and soft drinks to players as a way to meet
and socialize with other residents. Others have offered light snacks.
However, offering beverages and snacks is not a requirement for
participation. Everyone who has volunteered to be a dealer for past
Poker Runs thoroughly enjoyed this activity. Volunteer dealers will be
given an orientation prior to the event and will be given reserved seating
at the dinner! Those willing to act as dealers for this fun event
should contact Jay Lev as soon as possible! Jay can be reached by
phone at 941-575-9981 or by email at:
customrods44@hotmail.com.

POKER RUN 3 – 5 PM, SOCIAL HOUR 5 – 6 PM
DINNER 6 PM
BSGAC MEMBERS ONLY
If
you have never participated in a poker run, you have missed out on a really
great time! You won’t want to miss out this year. For this event
all participants will check in at the Activity Center at 3 PM. Each
person will be given a Poker Scorecard and assigned a route of 5 residences
to visit and return to the Club by 5 PM. At each residence, you will
draw one card towards a 5-card poker hand, and proceed to the next
residences on your route to complete your poker hand. Each stop will
enable everyone to socialize with old friends, make some new friends and
share in what is truly a fun event. This is a social event and not a
race! Some of the homes participating will be offering refreshments.
Although it is called a “Golf Cart Poker Run”, all participants may use
whatever means they wish to leave the club and return with a complete poker
hand by 5pm. Some residents have 4-person carts with whom you may want
to team up. Those without golf carts may wish to bicycle, travel by
car, walk, etc. If you wish to team up with another pair for this
event please register as a foursome so that you will have the same route of
5 homes to visit. The Scorecards must be returned by 5PM to the
Activity Center where the scoring will take place. An Italian Buffet

January’s 9-hole golf-member only tournament and dinner will be held on Friday, January 15th. The game which we will be playing is one which we’ve never played before, but it sounds like a lot of fun. The game will be a “Las Vegas Scramble”.
In this scramble format every team captain is give one dice. Every person in the team is given a number (one through four if the team is a four person team). Everyone tees off. At that point the captain rolls the dice and whatever number comes up determines whose shot will be used. Everyone hits again, and again the dice are rolled to determine whose shot will be used. This continues until the ball is in the hole. If there are more than 4 persons on a team and a 5 or 6 shows up on the dice the team captain will determine whose shot to use.
